Arrive, grab a drink, and meet the community. No agenda, just good conversation.
The story behind DataBeers Exeter
DataBeers is a global community of informal meetups that bring data practitioners and enthusiasts together in a relaxed, pub-style setting.
DataBeers started in Madrid and has since spread to dozens of cities worldwide. Each chapter is independently run by local volunteers who share the same core ethos: informal, inclusive and community-led.
Each event features 3 to 5 PechaKucha-style talks: 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each, on anything data-related. Projects, tools, war stories, experiments, visualisations. No topic is too niche; no speaker is too junior.
Whether you're a seasoned data scientist, a curious student, or someone who just discovered spreadsheets. You're welcome here. The event is always free to attend. The only ticket you need is an interest in data.
We launched DataBeers Exeter to fill a gap in the South West's data community landscape: a regular, relaxed event where people can share and learn outside of a formal conference setting.
Exeter sits at the heart of Devon, and our meetup reflects the breadth of data work happening across the region, from local government open data initiatives to startups, universities, and the NHS.
Just like the cathedral that features in our logo, we aim to be a landmark in Exeter's professional community: a recurring, reliable gathering that people look forward to.
We're building something long-term. Each event adds new faces, new perspectives, and new conversations. If you come once, we hope you'll keep coming back.
A typical DataBeers Exeter evening looks like this:
Arrive, grab a drink, and meet the community. No agenda, just good conversation.
3 to 5 speakers each present in PechaKucha format: 20 slides, 20 seconds each. No questions.
After the talks, the bar is yours. Connect, collaborate, and continue the conversation.
